Yarn & Hook Notes

For best results, use a sturdy cotton or cotton-blend yarn to give your wristlet that perfect shape and texture. Neutral tones make it classic; bold shades turn it into a statement piece.

I used Big Twist Living 100% Anti Pilling Acrylic in Charcoal for the original sample. It is a soft and structured fiber. This material holds up beautifully to everyday use.

Construction Overview

  1. Crochet the wristlet base and sides as one seamless piece.
  2. Attach (or crochet) the wrist strap.
  3. Add optional lining or closure.

  • 4.5 mm Hook Stitch
  • Stitch Markers
  • Tapestry Needle
  • 1 Metal O Ring
  • 7 inch Zipper
  • Embroidery Thread
Pattern Key:
  • ch(s) = chain(s)
  • sc = single crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • slst = slip stitch
  • st = stitch
  • GB = Granny Bubble
Pattern Notes:

Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round as you work through the project. It can be made with different yarn types and weights. Yet, sizing varies, as well as the placement of the features.

The granny bubble is made by combining the shell and cluster techniques. Several stitches are joined at the top and the bottom, in this case joining 3 double crochet stitches. after the Ch3 to start the round, yarn over hook, insert into ch1 space. Grab working yarn and pull through. You will have 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over hook and pull through 2 of the loops. Repeat steps 1-3 into the same space two more times so that you have 4 loops left on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on hook. Ch1 to finish the granny stitch.

Pattern Instructions:

Pouch:
  • Foundation: Chain 22.
  • Round 1: Starting in the second chain from the hook, double crochet (DC) in each stitch across (21 DC).
  • Continue working in the round by crocheting along the opposite side of the starting chain. Make 21 DC down the other side for a total of 42 stitches. Slip stitch (sl st) to the first DC to join. Chain 3.
  • Round 2: In the first stitch, make a Granny Bobble (GB) stitch. Skip the next stitch, GB in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern (GB, skip 1) all the way around. Slip stitch to the first GB to join, then chain 3 (total of 21 GB stitches).
  • Round 3: Work a GB stitch in each ch1 space from the earlier round. Continue working GB stitches in each ch-1 space all the way around. Slip stitch to join, then chain 3.
  • Rounds 4–9 (6 Rounds): Repeat Round 3 until you finish a total of 9 rounds of GB stitches. Finishing: Fasten off (FO) and weave in the ends.
Wristlet Chain
  • Attach yarn to the metal ring and single crochet 4 stitches around the ring.
  • Row 1: Chain 3. Skip the first stitch. GB (granny bobble) in the second stitch. Skip the third stitch. Then, GB in the fourth stitch. After the ch 1 at the end of the cluster, chain 3 and turn.
  • Row 2: Skip the first stitch, GB in the next stitch, skip one stitch, GB in the next stitch. Chain 3, turn.
  • **Repeat Row 2 until you have a total of 20 rows (not including the first 4 sc stitches around the ring).
  • Finishing: Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Fold the top part down and sew it around the bottom (the row of single crochets). Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Attaching the Zipper
  • Step 1: Prepare Your Zipper & Wristlet: Lay your zipper flat. Make sure it’s the correct length for your wristlet opening. If it’s too long, trim it and use a few stitches to seal the cut end. If your crochet fabric is very stretchy, consider lining it first with fabric for more stability.
  • Step 2: Position the Zipper Place the zipper right side up along the inside edge of the wristlet opening. Secure it in place with sewing clips or pins (safety pins work too). If using fabric glue, apply a thin line along the edges and let it dry for extra stability before sewing.
  • Step 3: Sew the Zipper Hand-Sewing Thread your needle and tie a knot at the end. Use a whip stitch or backstitch to attach the zipper. Sew through both the crochet fabric and the zipper tape. Make sure stitches are small and even for a secure hold.
  • Step 4: Secure & Finish Once the zipper is attached, test it by opening and closing to verify smooth operation. Weave in any loose threads, and trim excess if needed.
